July 10th-15th
Ljubljana, Slovenia

Newsletter 1: Monday, 10th July

Welcome to the 24th annual Central European Olympiad in Informatics, which will this year tale place in the capital of Slovenia – Ljubljana. The countries participating this year include: Austria, Azerbaijan, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Slovenia.

The competing teams have gathered today from 14 different countries in the student dormitory Vič for the first time, where they will be staying the following week of the competition. Due to the fact, that today was the arrival of most of the teams, the contestants had the day off to relax, get to know each other and also prepare for tomorrow’s practice session, which will take place in the morning. Meanwhile the leaders of the 15 participating teams had a meeting with the organizers, where they were informed about the competition rules and organization. A dinner was also organized for all the weary travelers.

All competitions this week will be held in the interior spaces of Faculty of Computer engineering and Informatics in Ljubljana, the staff of which are also the organizers of this year’s event. And for a little break from the competition the teams will have the chance to travel around Slovenia and Ljubljana and experience some of our nature’s wonders first hand.

An article was also published in one of our national newspapers Delo, to commemorate the beginning of 24th Central European Olympiad in Informatics.
